"Guess we'll find out." He turned on the engine and checked both ways before pulling out of his parking spot. "Ooh, a jukebox!" Kamala said reverently. "Don't listen to.?" Kamala looked shocked. "I only got radio," Steve told her, "but I don't listen to anything because I need to hear." "What music you got?" Kamala asked, head popping up between their seats. Steve smiled at him, and Bucky smiled back. Kamala jumped into the back, and for a moment Bucky looked like he might get in with her, but then he opened the passenger door and sat next to Steve.īucky looked at Steve as he pulled his seatbelt on. "See you at the diner!" Kamala waved to Miles and Shuri. He began walking to his car, looking to see who was coming with him.īucky grabbed Kamala's sleeve and tugged her along with them. "Sure, unless you want me to drive you all?" Steve offered. "Shall I follow you?" Shuri asked, swinging her car keys around her finger. ![]() They all walked to the car lot together, and because Bucky's friends were very chatty it filled the silences and made things a little easier. "I parked at the rear," Steve said, sticking his thumb over his shoulder. They all got up when Bucky arrived, ready to go. As they descended on the escalator and approached the food court it got harder for him to hear, as this part of the mall echoed with voices.īucky's friends were at a table, talking animatedly about something. They walked along together, headed to the escalator. Bucky took a jacket and a Walkman from under the desk, and then he was free to leave. One of them gave Bucky a couple of notes from the till. Steve didn't particularly want to go back to the noisy diner, he would've rather stayed in the mall with Bucky, but he wasn't sure if he should say that.īucky went up to talk to the guys on the cash desk. "You still coming to the diner?" Steve asked Bucky. He knew his mom would probably be shocked. Steve wondered if Bucky's mom approved of his look. He couldn't stop staring at Bucky's bracelets and his bare arms, and his eyes ringed in black. Maybe Steve liked being scared, just a little? If a bunch of adults wearing these clothes came walking down the street, Steve would probably walk the other way. The clothes looked less scary on Bucky, because Steve already knew him. There were racks and racks of black and scary looking clothes, probably where Bucky had gotten some of his, Steve thought. There were magic eye posters and glow in the dark posters that made Steve's eyes blurry when he looked at them too long. "This is quite a place! I don't think I've ever been in here?"īucky led him around the store, showing him the different sections and what they sold. "Sometimes." He couldn't help glancing around the store, so many things catching his eye. ![]() "We won, but there were some arguments between players and I'm kind of annoyed about it. "It's fine, I was working anyway," Bucky said. "Sorry it took me a while to get here, there was some stuff to sort out after the game and I had to shower and change." ![]() "The diner was so loud," Steve said, babbling because he was nervous. "Wow, it's nice and quiet in here?" he mentioned.īucky broke into a smile. "Hi!" Steve said, at a more normal volume because this store was surprisingly peaceful. Steve spotted him right away, and walked up to him. ![]() Today, he marched straight in and looked around for Bucky. He'd walked past it plenty of times, never venturing in because it looked intimidating and it just wasn't the type of store he needed anything from. ← Previous Work Part 2 of Avengers High School au's Next Work → Stats: Published: Updated: Words: 51312 Chapters: 21/?
